How Openchair Works

Openchair is a HIPAA-compliant platform that uses AI to triage dental emergencies and connect patients with licensed dentists — evenings, weekends, and holidays.

1

Describe your symptoms

Start a free triage conversation — no account needed. The AI asks you the same questions a dental triage nurse would: where the pain is, what it feels like, when it started, what makes it worse, and whether you have any swelling, fever, or recent trauma.

2

AI screens for emergencies first

Before anything else, the triage checks for signs that require an ER: airway compromise, rapidly spreading facial swelling (Ludwig's angina), uncontrolled bleeding, or jaw trauma. If present, you're directed to emergency services immediately.

3

Urgency is scored

Symptoms are categorized as: Emergency (act now), Urgent (within 24 hours), Semi-urgent (within 72 hours), or Routine (schedule when convenient). The triage does not diagnose conditions — it assesses severity to guide your next step.

4

Matched with a dentist

If you need care tonight, Openchair matches you with a verified, licensed dentist available in your area. You see their credentials, specialty, and available appointment slots before booking.

5

Dentist receives a clinical handoff

Before the appointment, your dentist receives a structured summary: chief complaint, symptom timeline, reported pain score, relevant medical history, and any photos you submitted. They arrive prepared.

Free to start. No account required. Available 24/7.

Openchair's AI triage is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest ER.
